Insurance Tips

Be informed
When it comes to insurance for your home, property or vehicle there are many companies chasing after your business.  Your mailbox and email overflow with offers.  You see ads on TV with cute animals, distinguished speakers, or even annoying actors.

How do you know what to believe, or decide what company has the better policy for your need?

First, you need to understand that the industry can be divided into two broad segments, the standard market and the specialty market.  We are a specialty insurer. That basically means we create policies that other carriers are not equipped to provide, policies that offer you more.

Second, insurers pitch their products on either price or value.  We focus on value, meaning that we give you options that make our policy fit your lifestyle and needs.  It also means that we support you fully if you have a claim.  Our business model focuses on retaining our customers, not scoring a quick, one-time sale.

Third, the insurance industry is heavy on jargon.  In fact, several pages of every insurance policy are devoted to defining terms.  To be a smart buyer of insurance, you need a grasp of the key terms that determine the scope of your coverage and the value of your policy.  As you review our policy offerings, refer to our glossary of terms. We kept the technical language to a bare minimum.

Fourth, knowing about specialty insurance and what the policy language means, will help you talk to your agent about your circumstances.  We offer some questions to help you with that discussion.

Be prepared
Once you have a policy, being prepared to stay safe is important, too.  We’ve summarized the actions you should take to prepare for a hurricane, tornado or fire, plus we offer suggestions for the safe enjoyment of your motorcycle, boat or RV.
