of programs claiming to insure collectible cars, but most have age limitations
and strict rules about vehicle modification. Unfortunately for most car
enthusiasts, these programs have failed to recognize that collectible cars
come in all varieties, from the perfectly restored antique to the new, high
performance exotic. Yet they all share the owners' dedication to caring for
and protecting the auto(s). American Modern Insurance Group is different. We
recognize the nature of the individual car owner, not just the year the car

A Policy Designed to Meet Your Needs. At American Modern, our focus is on providing quality protection for just a few select types of insurance, including manufactured homes, motorcycles and collectible automobiles. From Nostalgic to New, We Insure All Types of Collectible Autos. We don't think a car has to be older before it can be insured as a Collectible. And, we don't think a car that's been mechanically altered for show can't qualify for insurance that protects its true value. At American Modern, we insure all the following kinds of autos:
- Antiques. Autos 25 model years and older.
- Customs. Autos made from 1949 to the present, which have been mechanically and/or cosmetically altered.
- Classics. Autos 20-24 model years old.
- Collectibles. Cars 15-19 years old.
- Exotic cars. Cars that are less than 15 years old and which are considered to be appreciating in value.
- Street Rods. Pre-1949 cars which have been mechanically and/or cosmetically altered.
- Kit cars. Cars built from purchased packages and assembled by an experienced professional, manufacturer, or dealer.
Coverages For Your Lifestyle
Our Collector Car policies provide the necessary standard coverages you'll find in a comprehensive automobile policy for any car. But, because your car is special, we'll
also add the following coverages to your policy:
- Agreed Value Coverage, for Better Protection. You know your car is worth more than the depreciated value listed in certain price determination books - and so do we. When you come to us for your insurance, we'll work with you to determine how much your car is worth, and insure it for that amount. If you ever suffer a total loss, your claim is paid at Agreed Value.
- Spare Parts Coverage. If spare parts and accessories for your automobile are destroyed or lost, we'll pay up to $500 to help you replace them.
- Towing and Labor Costs. If you're driving around and your collector car becomes disabled, we will pay to specified policy limits to tow your car to a repair facility. Or, if a professional can fix the car at the site where the breakdown occurred, we will pay to specified policy limits for the labor necessary to get the car running again.
Standard Auto Coverages.
As with any Automobile insurance policy, your Collector Car policy will provide all of the following:
- Bodily Injury Liability. Pays for injury you cause to others while driving your car.
- Property Damage Liability. Pays for damage you cause to the property of others while driving your car.
- Uninsured Motorist Coverage. Pays for bodily injury caused to you or family members by an uninsured or underinsured motorist.
- Collision. Covers damage to your vehicle caused by colliding with another object or vehicle.
- Comprehensive. Pays for damage to your vehicle caused by fire, theft, wind, hail, vandalism, falling objects and more.
- Accidental Death and Dismemberment. Pays benefits for certain injuries which are caused by a collision accident while you are driving your car.
Some states require that auto insurers provide coverages in addition to those listed directly above. Depending on your state of residence, your policy may provide one of
the following:
- Medical Payments. Pays for necessary medical services resulting from bodily injury sustained by yourself and named family members, when caused by an auto accident.
- Personal Injury Protection (No-Fault). Allows your own insurance policy to be the primary coverage for bodily injury to yourself or family members, when in an accident involving your car.
Handy Options, Benefits and Extras

- Various Mileage Plans. While your auto should only be driven for pleasure, we do offer various mileage plans for our customers who like to do a bit more pleasure driving! Work with your agent to select the mileage limit that's right for you:
- Antique, Classic, Collectible, Custom and Street Rod Autos. Select 1,000, 3,000 or 6,000 miles a year.
- Exotic and Kit cars. Select 1,000 or 3,000 miles a year.
- We Let You Take a Trip Without "Counting" the Miles. If you're driving your car on a special trip, add our optional Trip Exclusion Endorsement to your policy before you go. Then, any miles you put on your car during the trip are not counted toward your annual mileage limit. Ask your agent for details.
- One Flat Liability Rate. You pay one premium rate for your liability coverage, regardless of the number of cars on your policy. (Not available in Virginia.)
- Coverage for Newly Acquired Automobiles. If you're like some collectors, there will be times when you buy another car for your collection. Our policies automatically extend to cover another Collectible automobile on the day you purchase it. This coverage is temporary, though, so you'll need to call your agent within 14 days of purchase to officially add the auto to your policy.
- Convenient Payment Options. We offer our customers many flexible ways to pay the premium on their policies. They can pay it all at once, or in convenient installments. They can take advantage of EZPay™, a once-a-month electronic funds transfer that pays the premium due - and the customer even picks the day of the month the transfer occurs. We also take debit cards, Discover®, MasterCard®, Visa® and American Express®. For more information on any of our payment options, click here.
- Fast and Reliable Claims Service. Our customers can report a claim online or over the phone, any time day or night. Customer service representatives take claims in person from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. We also have after-hours and weekend service for emergencies!
